Your insights and research will target the development and execution of corporate strategy, improving financial performance, shaping culture, and realizing long term profitable growth. While focusing across these priorities, as a former CEO, the ideal candidate will prioritize research driving business model innovation. This includes the operating model assessment and refinement, financial performance management and CEO-centric executive leadership insights including stakeholder / board management and personal brand development.A Senior Director Analyst serves as a leader within Gartner Research and Advisory, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research that Gartner clients apply to propel their business. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations. Through a steady cadence of client-focused research and interactions, Gartner analysts wake up each day knowing they have an opportunity for game-changing impacts with our clients – an experience that is truly unique.What We Are Looking For:Prior experiences as a CEO with proven experience in long term profitable growth, the drive of operational excellence, financial performance and executive leadership (including stakeholder / board management and personal brand development).A successful track record leading a high growth software company with revenues in excess of $10M annually and up to $500M annually.Experiences navigating through key challenges that prevent the scaling of successful software-centric companies with a proven track record of navigating the obstacles that can prevent high growth.Exceptional communication and persuasion skills to apply Gartner’s research to client situations, and often challenge clients to adjust their priorities.What You Will Do:Conduct research to develop actionable and objective insight targeting tech CEOs and their teams.Author unique, thought-provoking, actionable, and highly leveraged “must-have research” content through various media.Advise tech CEOs and founders on scaling the business and prioritizing investments.Collaborate through the provision of high quality and timely peer review of colleagues’ research content as we collectively put unique and actionable research in the hands of our clients.Help tech CEOs of startup, growth and mature stage midsized tech companies to develop approaches and methods to establish and scale their organizations.Help experienced founders to stay ahead of the market by assessing market and technology trends and providing guidance to shape service offerings / delivery for our clients spanning strategy, go-to-market, and business management approaches.Provide sales support to help drive engagement with prospects and clientsDevelop in-depth analysis to identify and diagnose the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forwardProvide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactionsWork collaboratively with a globally distributed team of analysts establishing research positions.Bring provocative, independent insights that can evolve the research agendaCreate and deliver high-value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefingsBe client-centric while actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner research and interactionsBe a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team membersWhat You Will Need:12+ years of relevant field or industry experience5+ years of experience as the CEO of a software company – across one or more organizationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceSix sigma certification ideal, but not requiredDeep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within the subject area as well as the interplay in that marketDemonstrable executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and other stakeholdersStrong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts concisely and simplyAbility to work independently, while also collaborating across teams and supporting the workflow of others, in a multicultural global teamA desire and ability to author unique, Gartner-proprietary research effectively and succinctly.Intellectual agility, curiosity, courage to push boundariesStrong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverablesStrong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questionsProficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challengesStrong business and financial acumenEnjoy challenging and being challenged.
