Opportunity

The Senior Director of Global Ecosystem Development will build and direct a new collaborative team comprised of three current IRAP departments: Global Partnerships, Digital Resource, Product and Engagement, and Legal Knowledge and Training, to create one cohesive and collaborative department that strives to amplify IRAP’s efforts around the world to strengthen the refugee rights ecosystem and increase the visibility, usability and accessibility of IRAP’s resources and services. The Senior Director of Global Ecosystem Development will also collaborate closely with the Director of Disability, Inclusion and Accessibility who will participate in department events, such as planning and information sharing to ensure high level of work collaboration and goals alignment. The Senior Director of Global Ecosystem Development will guide the integration of these critical strategies into IRAP’s broader programmatic work with a focus on deepening engagement with displaced populations globally, practitioners and partner organizations. 

The Senior Director of Global Ecosystem Development will report to the Executive Vice President for Global Programs and will be a member of the Program Leadership Committee and the Senior Management Team. The Senior Director will supervise the Director of Global Partnerships, the Director of Digital Resource, Product and Engagement (DRPE), the Director of Legal Knowledge and Training, and a Global Ecosystem Development Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a plan for increased integration of IRAP’s partnership, accessibility, and resource development teams into our global programmatic work.
  • Support a department of three Directors and one Manager, providing responsive management and ongoing support to ensure that all of the Ecosystem teams are achieving their strategic goals and that the work is fully integrated into the work and mission of the organization.
  • Create a structure for this new department that supports increased impact through cross-departmental collaboration. 
  • Coordinate with the Disability Inclusion and Accessibility Director to ensure IRAP’s resources are accessible internally and externally, and to ensure that our Global Partnerships work is well integrated with our Disability Inclusion workstreams. 
  • Coordinate with the Evaluation & Learning team to monitor key analytics and utilize that data to improve departmental performance.
  • Design and support cross-departmental strategies to grow and deepen our engagement with difficult-to-reach populations.
  • Support expanded collaboration with refugee-serving organizations globally through the work of the Global Ecosystem Development department and engagement with IRAP’s Global Legal Services and Policy teams to build networks, leverage resources, and create synergies that amplify IRAP’s efforts and impact.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • J.D., DOJ accreditation, or an advanced degree in a related field is a plus but not required.

 

  • Experience:
  • At least 6 years of experience working in the field of immigrant and refugee rights; global experience a plus;
  • Experience developing or improving organizational capacity, with an eye toward opportunities for process improvement;
  • Experience supervising teams or units and a deep commitment to leadership development and mentorship;
  • Experience working with community-based and NGO partners;
  • Experience in successfully employing an anti-racist/anti-oppression lens to foster a diverse, equitable working environment, and create diverse teams that reflect communities served;
  • Substantial experience in either partnership development or legal resource creation is strongly preferred;
  • Experience supervising staff working remotely is a plus;
  • Preference for experience working in diverse and international work environments;
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to coordinate and support teams to design projects to address complex challenges refugees face and to be a good allies to refugee communities and Refugee-led Organizations (RLOs);
  • Demonstrated track record addressing structural and historical challenges marginalized communities (refugees, People of Color, People with Disabilities) face and supporting them to meaningfully contribute and influence the refugee rights ecosystem/regime;

  • Strong project management skills and process orientation to the work, skilled at allocating resources effectively, and monitoring budgets to achieve financial sustainability.
  • Highly organized and motivated, able to multitask, manage a high-volume workload, and have excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills in oral and written English. Excellent skills in a second language, particularly Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, or Spanish, is a plus but not required.
  • Skilled in leading organizational change and navigating complexities within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders including the leadership team, displaced populations, partner organizations, and senior management.
  • Familiarity with digital technologies and innovative approaches to enhance accessibility and impact.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to coordinate and support teams to design projects to address complex challenges refugees face and to be a good allies to refugee communities and Refugee-led Organizations (RLOs).
  • Demonstrated track record addressing structural and historical challenges marginalized communities (refugees, People of Color, People with Disabilities) face and supporting them to meaningfully contribute and influence the refugee rights ecosystem/regime.

Location

This position is based in NY or Washington D.C and may be remote. If remote, the position must be available to work in the EST time zone as needed.

Hybrid office availability (2 times per week) is preferred at any of IRAP’s global offices.

This position may require some travel to all the locations of IRAP including but not limited to: Berlin, Beirut, Amman and the US.

Compensation

This role’s compensation is based on experience, education and internal equity. The salary will be $150,000.
