The Opportunity:

  • This position will be located onsite at Beebe – Main Campus in Lewes, DE for the first 6 months of employment and then will be a Hybrid position. The candidate must be able to work full time onsite at this location for the first 6 months*

This role does require support, as needed, outside of normal working hours. Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm

The Senior Health Information Management Specialist will implement and maintain the computer software and hardware in the department. They will train users on the systems and function as the first point of contact with computer issues. Maintains the integrity of the various databases utilized in the department. Collaborate with other users on the interface and other issues.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement training programs for the various computer systems utilized with the department and instruct users on these systems for standard operating procedures.
  • Work with the Information Systems Department to add/remove access to necessary computer systems for new/established users within the Medical Record Department.
  • Identify and work to solve problems in various computer systems utilized within the department, escalate and follow-up until resolved.
  • Review coding error log queue and ensure it is up to date.
  • Test upgraded or new hardware before installing and maintain inventory of all the computer hardware and monitor repairs to the scanning equipment.
  • Monitor, maintain, make edits to patient data contained in the Master Patient Index, correcting assigned medical record numbers, duplicate accounts, and other essential patient data always ensuring integrity of the Master Patient Index.
  • Represent the Medical Records Department at Information Systems related meetings, as necessary.
  • Add new provider profiles to EMR, coding system, and maintain current provider fax stations.
  • Monitor fax stations in EMR to ensure there are no delays or bottlenecks preventing timely outbound faxing.
  • Maintain EMR work queues and create worklists for auditors/payers as needed. 
  • Apply bar codes and numbers to new and revised forms in preparation for committee approval.
  • Monitor helpdesk ticketing system. Troubleshoot and provide excellent customer service.
  • Run and create reports as requested by customers related to diagnosis, case logs, consultation, patient disposition, and disease registries for the state.
  • Monitor interface errors and work with Information Systems for resolution.

Experience We Love:

  • 1 to 3 years of HIM experience, preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in training and computer support.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with physicians and their staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • MS Office knowledge, report writing and database management experience.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records

Certifications:

  • CRCR Required within 9 months of hire.
