We are currently recruiting a Senior HR Manager to join our Sudan team.

This is an office-based position in Port Sudan.

About the Opportunity

The Senior Human Resources Manager (SHRM) provides effective leadership on all HR functions to the RI Sudan program – with special focus on workforce planning, management and development, effective design and management of remuneration and reward, performance management, HR Policy and overall risk management and compliance, employee relations and staff care.

You will partner with the Deputy Country Director to recruit, manage, motivate, and develop agile and robust workforce to deliver country strategy. The SHRM serves as Business Partner to the DCD-Operations, CD, SMT, and Line Managers ad provide technical advice on all HR matters, including change management, organization design and development, and overall HR policy and labor law.

Your Responsibilities

This role includes the following responsibilities.

  • HR Strategy: Develop and implement the Country HR strategy, ensuring alignment with the RI Country Strategy, serving as HR Business Partner to the CD and SMT providing technical HR advice on all HR issues.
  • Recruitment: Partner with the SMT and line managers to ensure adequate workforce planning for Sudan.
  • Compensation and benefits: Partner with Program HR and Global Compensation and Benefits to ensure design, review and implementation of robust compensation and benefits structure for Sudan.
  • Employee Relations: Create and maintain a healthy and empowering office environment that encourages open, honest and productive communication.
  • Performance Management: Monitor the evaluation processes at all stages and ensure that staff and supervisors complete the review process, providing guidance to supervisors on effective coaching methods and creating PIPs where necessary.
  • Training: Partner with Global Talent Management and Development to implement capacity building initiatives and to motivate staff.
  • Leadership, Team Management and Coordination: Partner with CD and SMT to create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence.

About You

You will bring the following experience and skills.

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a qualified by experience
  • Substantial progressive experience in a similar position, preferably in nonprofit sector with significant experience in an HR management position.
  • Proven experience of providing leadership on all HR issues at the same time balancing the strategic role with the need to deliver effective day-to-day HR administration services.
  • Direct experience of organizing large scale recruitment.
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with competing demands.
  • Previous experience of staff supervision and capacity building.
  • Well-developed conceptual, critical, and analytical thinking with the ability to convey complex information in a straightforward way and influencing this to a wider audience.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
