The Ministry of Health’s Information Management Strategy and Policy Branch leads the development and implementation of data strategy and policy across all sectors of healthcare and plays a key role in designing new health system approaches to data to transform our citizens’ experience of healthcare and push the boundaries of health innovation.

Who we are looking for:

The Branch is seeking a Senior Information Management Policy Advisor and a Senior Information Management Advisor. We are looking for mission-driven self-starters with multidisciplinary abilities and creative, lateral thinking skills; strategic and creative thinkers that excel at tackling complex and interesting problems; excellent collaborators with an ability to adapt, learn quickly and take charge in a dynamic and fluid start-up type environment.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will lead teams and provide expertise in the analysis, conceptualization and formulation of health system data strategy, policy, and programs, including leading health system collaborations and partnership building.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development of large-scale policy, programs and initiatives from initial concept and stakeholder consultation through to implementation.
  • Seek out and effectively analyze information to understand key business issues and to identify potential solutions.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and can work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities.
  • Support change by seeking out new ideas, developing innovations, conducting risk assessments and creating strategic solutions.
  • Respond to issues and provide reports and recommendations and you can create, lead and present briefings on complex issues to senior executives and decision-makers.

How do I qualify?

Strategic Thinking and Innovation:

You see the big picture and have an awareness of societal, economic and political issues that may impact overall enterprise directions. You link long-range visions and concepts to your daily work, and understand the implications and impact that other plans, objectives, trends and changes have on your work. You seek creative ideas and approaches in order to find different and better ways to solve long-standing problems.

Policy Development, Research & Analysis:

You identify socio-economic policy drivers and needs and undertake policy analysis to clarify issues, formulate solution principles and frameworks, and develop policy options and recommendations. You lead research and analysis work, using a variety of methods and sources including stakeholder consultation, to gather and analyze information and synthesize it for relevant insights to support evidence-informed policy development.

Political Acuity, Relationship Building and Management, Consensus-Building:

You understand the dynamics of decision-making in complex enterprises and sources of formal and informal influences that can impact on the process. You cultivate trusted working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and enable effective bi-directional communication and collaboration in support of enterprise strategies and policies.

Situational Judgement and Decision Making, Issue Management:

You draw on experience, professional knowledge (technical, theoretical and/or experiential) to assess implications, recognize patterns, and connections of underlying issues to form workable recommendations and actions. You can identify emerging and potentially contentious issues and manage them proactively so they don’t grow into a crisis. You have strong communication and negotiation skills.

Leadership and Project Management:

You lead projects and work in cross-functional teams, using collaborative work approaches to ensure things are completed effectively and efficiently in a coordinated way. You have structured ways of working to control, manage and organize multiple activities and resources for the accomplishment of a project or initiative. You set high standards of performance and hold yourself accountable for results and actions.
