Working within the Future Finance Data and Tech workstream, this role focuses on delivering the data tactical and strategic solutions within PHKL. The FFP is a strategic initiative for Prudential, enabling the Finance function to transform its role to focus on business partnering, supporting Prudential business growth.
Job Descriptions:
- Own and manage the MI and FP&A workstream plan, with the support from the PMO-office.
- Oversee and take ownership of cross team/discipline delivery and coordination, assign tasks and manage day-to-day activities, get timely input from internal and external stakeholders (e.g., IT).
- Deliver new MI dashboards, FP&A tooling and enhance corresponding processes.
- Identify, assess and escalate risks and mitigating actions to the PMO-office and/or PHKL-leadership.
- Provide timely workstream status updates via the established communication channels.
- Own and manage and track workstream allocated budgets and costs, with support from the PMO-office.
- Ensure deliverables meet the required scope, business requirements, required level of benefits and level of quality.
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, systems, data and controls (where relevant) and make clear what the business benefits are and impact to the organisation.
- Prepare proposals which concisely set-out alternatives, pros and cons of each alternative, including impact assessment (operational, financial, etc.) and drive discussions with key local and group stakeholders.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., group and local IT department, MI&FPA Group workstream, project leadership and external consultants).
- Ensure that the documentation regarding the implementation of changes meets all prudential internal requirements (e.g., documentation on approving and governing key decisions, controls documentation on user acceptance testing, progress reports and risks identification and mitigation, vendor selection and procurement, etc.).
- Provide functional subject matter expertise on MI and FPA when brainstorming or analysing options and implications, which includes thinking through the use and integration in existing systems and processes of certain tooling (Python, Alteryx, AI or otherwise) to automate processes, the use of dashboards (e.g., PowerBI), what KPIs should be included and how to present information in a most useful way for leadership and how to source data for management information (including designing automated data controls) and considering pragmatic solutions (e.g., moving from descriptive more basic dashboards in the interim to more sophisticated potentially predictive/prescriptive ones in the future);
- Participate in governance meetings and key leadership meetings and present MI&FPA workstream proposals and drive discussions, including pre-socialisation ahead of these meetings, where needed (e.g., design authority, steerco meetings, etc.).
- Support programme funding requests, which includes supporting analysing priorities by assessing costs benefits, estimate costs for key deliverables (considering engagement models, resourcing and timing) and going through the procurement process to get approvals locally and at group.
- Where needed participate in auditor discussions on changes implemented, which includes providing walk throughs, required evidence that design, build and test meets internal requirements and address queries as they arise.
Job Requirements:
- Data engineer, scientist or similar designation and at least 10 years of post-qualification work experience, initially trained in a big four and subsequently worked within a life insurer.
- Data expert, which includes expertise and significant prior experience with database creation and languages (e.g., SQL and otherwise), building of data interfaces between data source and user interfaces (i.e. PowerBI, ETLs, Python, etc.), building data models and able to capture the customer/user journey in those models, data cleansing and building automated data quality checks.
- Strong project management skills and stakeholder management and execute delivery in a structured and transparent manner.
- A good understanding and prior experience with building predictive, prescriptive and/or descriptive models and the data implications of implementing these, is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of data governance and data quality management.
- Good understanding of actuarial and accounting and reporting concepts across life insurance metrics (e.g., IFRS 17, EEV/TEV, RBC, ICS, etc.).
- Strong understanding and prior experience with testing approaches and processes, which include SIT, UAT, smoke tests, unit tests, setting up testing scripts, setting up testing environments, test documentation and going through governance to complete the testing.
- Good understanding of the audit process and understand what it takes to engage with the auditor and obtain audit sign off of changes deployed.
- Proven track record and significant prior experience on leading the delivery of design, build and test of data repositories, corresponding data pipelines and data quality checks.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build and lead cross functional teams to deliver within tight timelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which includes the ability to communicate and bring across key messages to individuals with different cultural and educational backgrounds (i.e., actuaries, accountants, A&R experts and system and tech experts). At the same time translate key messages in a concise way and in layman terminology to key stakeholders which are not close to the detail (e.g., able to summarize complex topics on one-pagers).

- Ideally bilingual but this is not a core requirement (i.e., fluent in English and Cantonese).
- Good understanding of key technology and system aspects to the FFP changes. This would include Oracle Fusion, SunGL, concept of using ETLs, use of Alteryx, Use of AI, use of PowerBI, Cloud data technologies (e.g., Azure, Databricks), OneStream, SAS or similar tech knowledge.
- Practical and extensive experience of agile delivery methodologies.
