Exciting opportunity to become a clinical team leader on Russell Clinic ,an established rehabilitation inpatient unit within the heart of Exeter.Come and join our dynamic team, lots of opportunities for progression and further training. A chance to get to know the wider mental health services within Exeter and be part of an ever changing service.You will quickly become part of a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team where you’ll be using your skills and experience to deliver a package of care to people on our ward that helps them on their road to recovery. We passionately believe that with our help, people can improve their mental health to recover independence and return to their local community.Main duties of the job

  • To assist the Ward Manager in setting up standards, promoting change and developing nursing practice, supervision and audit.
  • To deputise for the manager in his/her absence.
  • To ensure the delivery of high standards of nursing care to all service users, in accordance with evidence based professional practice and trust policies.

  • Registered mental health or learning disability nurse

ExperienceEssential

  • Substantial post registration experience
  • Experience as a Band 5 in an acute/rehab inpatient setting
  • Experience working within an MDT
  • Clinical Supervision and Mentoring Experience
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Mentoring students in line with professional requirements
  • Successful Completion of Preceptorship Programme.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision

Desirable

  • Previous Leadership or Management training
  • Experience of completing audit work

Knowledge and SkillsEssential

  • An understanding of NSF Mental Health Act/ MH Capacity Act
  • CPA/Understanding of recovery principles in Mental Health
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to provide and receive complex sensitive information in relation to staff, service users, families and carers
  • Able to problem solve and assist others in this process
  • Effectively manage admission/discharges
  • Ability to assess and manage risk effectively
  • Lead and supervise staff to provide a high quality, effective service
  • Good liaison skills and ability to manage difficult and complex situations
  • Effectively able to manage own time and that of the team
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Able to undertake nursing procedures e.g. manual handling, physical restraint
