Senior Professional Support – Primary Market Specialist Supervision team
Salary: London £34,700 to £43,300 per annum – Salary offered will be based on skills and experience
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a team that works at the heart of corporate finance and capital markets activity in London?
The team/department
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to provide, administrative and regulatory support to our Primary Market Specialist Supervision team and the wider Primary Market Oversight Department.
The UK is a global centre for the primary issuance of securities and tradable financial instruments like shares and bonds. The Primary Market Oversight Department focuses on a wide range of primary market activity, including supervising key intermediaries in the issuance of new securities, and monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Listing Rules, the Market Abuse Regulation and the Disclosure Requirements and Transparency Rules. Our work is market-facing, real time, and often high profile.
The Primary Market Specialist Supervision Team is responsible for supervising sponsors. The role of a sponsor is to advise certain listed issuers and their directors at key points, such as on initial listing. The team is also responsible for supervising Primary Information Providers, which are the information services that companies must use to disseminate regulatory information. Market integrity is at the heart of the team’s work and, as such, the team is also focused on how firms, including sponsors and other corporate finance firms, comply with the Market Abuse Regulation.
What you will be doing (the role)
This role sits within the Primary Market Specialist Supervision Team. It involves a wide and varied mixture of professional support and regulatory tasks and responsibilities, both within the team and working with other managers and teams across the wider Market Oversight Directorate. As such, you will build your network and understanding of markets, often acting as a pivotal player in the coordination and support of team and department activities.
The role involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders to arrange regulatory meetings and assisting with the preparation of documentation for these meetings. This also involves flexing to cover less predictable and more complex work like helping to coordinate an event or collating information using FCA systems to support a piece of regulatory review work. The role also involves some routine and regular activities like complex diary management and running regulatory reports. As such, this role could suit someone seeking to develop their career in either the regulatory or professional support fields.
Core elements of the role are:
- Collating information to support regulatory reviews or casework
- Carrying out regulatory and open-source checks required by our procedures
- Creating and updating cases in our systems, when supporting casework or other regulatory processes like our annual notifications from sponsors and primary information providers
- Using FCA systems to prepare management information and regulatory reports
- Coordinating requests for software and IT resources and raising calls with our helpdesk to resolve issues
- Providing diary and secretarial support to a small number of Managers in the Primary Market Oversight department. This can involve juggling competing priorities across the managers you support, proactively managing meeting clashes and engaging with internal and external contacts
What you will get from the role?
This role offers an excellent opportunity to be an important and integral part of a team in a busy, friendly environment. You will:
- Gain an insight into primary markets regulation and the operation of the Listing Rules, Disclosure Requirements and Transparency Rules and the Market Abuse Regulation
- Develop your skills and experience in a department with considerable exposure to the transactions making the headlines in the business pages
- Work with a number of managers across a wide variety of the activities covered by the Primary Market Oversight department, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, building relationships inside and outside the FCA
- Have excellent access to learning, training, and personal development opportunities
