position Summary
Zachry Construction Corporation is seeking a Senior Proposal Coordinator to join our Business Development/Proposal Department in either Houston or San Antonio, Texas. This individual will be responsible for leading proposal development efforts in response to RFPs, RFQs, hard bids, and competitive sealed proposals to secure construction contracts for heavy highway and civil projects.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, writing, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex pursuits under tight deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to effectively collaborate with senior technical staff and subject matter experts is essential.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate all aspects of proposal development (writing, editing, graphics, and production) from assignment through final delivery.
- Work directly with senior-level technical staff to prepare proposal materials, including writing, editing, verifying, and formatting information.
- Organize and facilitate pursuit strategy meetings and collaborate with technical staff to storyboard and refine key proposal sections.
- Review and edit technical narratives for clarity, compliance, and alignment with win themes and key messages.
- Ensure all aspects of proposals-including technical scope, staff qualifications, experience, and biographical data-are accurate, compelling, and compliant.
- Maintain and update employee resumes and project descriptions for use in proposals.
- Assist with project-specific and general prequalification documentation.
- Manage timelines and deadlines to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality proposal packages.
- Support the development of proposal tracking systems and contribute to pursuit review meetings.
- Travel as needed to coordinate proposal efforts across offices.

What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a field emphasizing writing, communication, or analysis.
- 5+ years of proposal coordination experience, preferably in the A/E/C industry.
- Experience with large-scale project pursuits ($50M+) required; heavy civil and alternative delivery (Design-Build/P3) experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat DC, Photoshop).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong writing and editing skills with exceptional command of English grammar and style.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong visual and graphic design sense.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet proposal deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
