Department of Health SciencesThe University of York is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow (Assistant Director RSS) to join the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) Hub based at the University of York. The NIHR RSS provides advice and support to researchers in England developing applications to national, peer-reviewed research programmes and at other stages in the research pathway. Support is delivered nationally by eight Hubs and by Specialist Centres for Public Health and Social Care.The University of York offers flexible working patterns and a number of family friendly initiatives. We embrace as well as the values of the Athena SWAN Charter in all our Departmental activities.RoleWe are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director (Senior Research Fellow) to work closely with the RSS Hub Co-Directors and Programme Manager in implementing the Hub’s strategic and operational plans, leading innovation in delivery and working collaboratively with other RSS Hubs through the RSS National Collaborative. The role also provides an outstanding opportunity to develop your own portfolio of research alongside contributing to RSS.Skills, Experience & Qualification neededSome of the essential requirements for the role are listed below, please see the job description for the full list of essential criteria.

• PhD in an area relevant to applied health research or relevant MSc and equivalent experience
• Expert knowledge in at least one methodological area relevant to applied health and social care research
• Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
• Knowledge of inclusive approaches to research
• Expert knowledge of UK funding landscape for health, public health and social care, funder expectations and current national research priorities
• Significant track record of delivering research in the field of health, social care or public health
• Track record in incorporating patient and public involvement in research and in inclusive approaches in research
• Experience of delivering sustained and consistent, publicly verifiable, research output of high quality with evidence of impact and esteem
• Proven experience of attracting and obtaining significant external research funding
