Bio-Rad Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Chemistry/Process Chromatography R&D team as a Senior Scientist. As the Senior Scientist you will support our efforts in the design, synthesis, evaluation, and technology transfer of new chromatographic resins. You will generate data to support product development, manufacturing, and customer applications. You will interface with R&D scientists and engineers, marketing personnel, production, and external collaborators

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Synthesize and characterize polymeric materials used in chromatography.
  • Scale up and optimize lab-scale procedures for transfer to manufacturing.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze protein purification processes to support production and customer applications.
  • Analyze data and draft reports of findings to present findings to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Critically review technical documents and act as a subject matter expert.
  • Support production in improving and troubleshooting current product lines

What You Bring: 

  • Education/Work Experience: PhD in Material Science and Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 0-5 years of post-graduate industry experience in polymer chemistry, polymer engineering, organic synthesis, or materials characterization. Masters Degree with 3-5 years experience and demonstrated research experience will also be considered
  • Broad knowledge in polymer synthesis, material characterization, and chemical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of structure- property relationships of materials
  • Wet chemistry experience including polymer synthesis or surface modification of polymers
  • Experience in protein purification protocol design a plus.
  • Experience in chromatography application testing / validation a plus.
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve, analyze data, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills.

Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $114,700 – $157,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
