As a key contributor to our team, the Senior Technical Writer Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the skills and expertise of our group to align with the requirements of our product lines. Responsibilities will extend across various organizational efforts, including digital transformation and process enhancement, under the guidance of the Head of the LCI Team. The selected candidate will be instrumental in devising and implementing training programs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and will serve as the primary liaison for both local and international teams, as well as with our clients! This role involves cross-disciplinary coordination with departments such as engineering, project management, purchasing, and sales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the monthly reporting of critical on-time delivery (OTD) metrics and the autonomous management of specific projects, including customer projects, proposals, or special programs within the compression business unit!

This role is designed for an engineer who brings a combination of technical expertise, communication proficiency, and the ability to drive team development and process improvements within a dynamic and collaborative engineering environment!

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Draft, review, and update IOM manuals for customer projects, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
• Facilitate the planning and development of team competencies to fulfill product line requirements.
• Engage in and contribute to organizational initiatives, such as digitalization and process improvements, as directed.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly reports and manage critical metrics related to team OTD.
• Independently manage assigned projects, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and contracts.
• Contribute to the creation and revision of standard technical documents.
• Manage supplier documentation, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering field is required; mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering or equivalent is preferred.
• Must have Technical Writing experience including foundational editorial skills and research practices; additional Technical Communication and Media Management experience is preferred.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience; Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level position.
• Professional experience in mechanical and package engineering, preferably with a focus on compressor packages with expertise in Product Lifecycle Information (LCI) and technical publications.
• In-depth knowledge of American and European directives and standards relevant to mechanical and plant engineering, technical publications, and product liability.
• Proficiency in Installation, Commissioning, Operation, and Maintenance Manuals (IOMs).
• Skills in text and image design, with proficiency in image editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop or CorelDraw.
• Experience with Component Content Management Systems (CCMS), ST4, or similar editorial systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a multinational, multi-functional environment. Recognized ability to take on complex problems, develop new business processes, and exercise high professional judgment in uncertain situations.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, with additional proficiency in Acrobat Pro DC/ PDF-XChange Editor, Fabasoft Folio, Team Center, or similar software.
• German language skills is a plus.

This job may be based in Olean, New York. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
