Advance TRS are currently working with an American consultancy who are looking to establish a presence in the UK Water sector.They have recently appointed an industry expert Modelling Manager from one of the UK’s largest water utility companies.This contact is now looking for a Senior Wastewater Network Modeller to help them open and lead an office in Manchester.This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the right individual seeking career progression and the chance to work with clients in the UK and USA. Our client would also fund a trip to the USA to meet colleagues for the successful applicant.Applicants must have full eligibility to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship.Overall Purpose of the RoleTo provide advanced technical expertise in wastewater network modeling, supporting the design, construction, and operation of wastewater assets. The role is focused on ensuring high-quality deliverables, maintaining technical excellence, and fostering innovation. Integrating best practices and aligning with global standards are essential to enhance the quality and effectiveness of projects.Scope of the RoleDevelop, embed, and drive efficiency, consistency, technical expertise, and innovative ways of working to deliver exceptional service to clients and stakeholders. This role involves providing technical training and coaching to team members, ensuring adherence to best practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of modeling processes.Major Accountabilities of the RoleTechnical Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Manage the development, calibration, validation, maintenance, and application of models for root cause analysis. Provide insights into system operation and performance, communicate risks, and support business units and stakeholders in decision-making.
- Deliver high-quality modeling outputs, ensuring that all products meet industry standards and align with international guidelines.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of modeling specifications, ensuring they remain up-to-date and effective.
- Provide technical training, coaching, mentoring, and quality checking of modeling work for team members.
- Ensure health and safety are central to all delivery processes and practices.
- Develop TOTEX (Total Expenditure) solutions to support delivery and operational teams, helping them achieve optimal outcomes.
- Use modeling results to support stakeholders in decision-making. Recommend and critique proposed modeling approaches for design teams, actively manage project delivery risks, and engage with the wider team.
- Challenge yourself and your colleagues to seek opportunities to continually improve the technical quality and confidence of modeling outputs. Promote innovation and a culture of continuous improvement.
Experience and Capability Requirements
- Extensive experience in technical training, coaching, mentoring, and reviewing modeling work.
- Demonstrable experience in building, calibrating, validating, maintaining, and using wastewater models for root cause analysis and solution development.
- Strong background in hydraulic modeling with a practical understanding of option buildability and water quality standards.
- Expertise in developing TOTEX solutions that support delivery and operational teams in achieving business outcomes.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent experience, with a professional qualification or chartership being highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage project delivery risks and actively engage with teams to ensure successful outcomes.
- Practitioner-level expertise in InfoWorks ICM, Risk Master, InfoAsset Manager, and MapInfo.
- Strong data interrogation skills, particularly within a Microsoft Excel environment, including Visual Basic programming.
- Attention to detail, with strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective report writing and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrable ability to innovate and lead continuous improvement initiatives within a technical team.
- Current driving license is required.
