Material will be drawn from Toronto and diasporic communities in other times and places. The position is for the second half of the course.Estimated course enrolment: 50Estimated TA support: 65 hoursClass schedule: Mondays 10:00-12:00, Wednesdays 10:00-12:00, Fridays 10:00-12:00

Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,570.02Please note that should the rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD in social sciences or humanities
  • Background in areas related to diaspora and transnationalism, as well as ethnic and cultural studies, is required.
  • Ability to teach online if public health issues require

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of the subject area and demonstrated ability in university teaching.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Previous experience in teaching a similar course is preferred.

Description of duties:

  • Design, preparation, and weekly delivery of course content
  • Coordination of an undergraduate course
  • Providing scheduled office hours and/or electronic communication for academic counselling of students
  • Setting and marking assignments in collaboration with the TA
  • Supervising the TA
  • Submitting grades
  • Dealing with student inquiries, appeals and petitions
