CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

(1) Manage the operations of the shipping and receiving department and direct reports:

  • Supervision, training, cross-training, and development of the shipping and receiving team, including the ability to outline and communicate responsibilities & expectations to direct reports. Assess performance, succession plan, manage time and overtime, make departmental salary and promotion recommendations, and ensures departmental education requirements and certifications are fulfilled.
  • Manage all shipping operations including loading, unloading, sorting, and palletizing deliveries.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans and procedures that look to increase the optimal function of the shipping and receiving department; Makes recommendations for equipment upgrades.
  • Supervise and track the receipt and delivery of packages, mail, and materials/supplies.
  • Post office box management and related billing.
  • Procurement of department supplies by preparing purchase orders, tracking inventory, verifying order accuracy, and assisting with the check request process.
  • Maintain facilities storage; inventory deliveries including but not limited to janitorial consumables, office supplies, food service deliveries, MEP deliveries, merchandise store and special events deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate delivery schedules and records.
  • Responsible for scheduling service and retaining maintenance records for all department equipment and machinery, including tow motor, compactor, pallet jack, mail machine, mail tracking devices, etc.
  • Maintains and updates the shipping and receiving room resource page on the company intranet.
  • Maintain the order, safety, and cleanliness of the shipping and receiving room.
  • Identify and resolve shipping and receiving discrepancies and mail routing/delivery issues.
  • All other shipping & receiving duties as assigned.

(2) Work Cafés and Copy Rooms:

  • Inventory, stock and supply work cafes and copy rooms based on established standards.
  • Assign direct reports routes/floors for regular inventorying and stocking.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with department points of contact to establish sorting procedures and gain an understanding of business needs.

(3) Relationship Management:

  • Manages the relationship and daily responsibilities with third party vendors related to shipping and receiving activities, including FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, Eptura, and contracted courier services.
  • Assist Building Services management with budgetary matters for the shipping and receiving department. This includes gathering bids/proposals for work related to the shipping and receiving department and assisting in preparation of annual budget for HQ.
  • Coordinate with other departments including but not limited to Cooperate Accounting and/or department Financial Analyst for departmental chargebacks.
  • Partner with Corporate Safety to maintain standard operating procedures and ensure compliance.

(4) Move Requests:

  • Helps to coordinate and assist with box move requests as needed. Move requests can be internal or to and from other Northeast Ohio Sherwin-Williams facilities.
  • Partner with Space Planning team to update employee locations.
  • Operate company-owned vehicles as required.

(5) Freight Elevators:

  • Oversight of freight elevator operations. This includes 2 freight elevators and 1 freight dedicated to food service.
  • Ensuring weight compliance when transporting.
  • Operate elevator manually as needed.
  • Report operational issues as needed.

(6) Technology Usage:

  • Proper Usage and knowledge of the technology (hardware and software) required for daily job responsibilities, including but not limited to Workspace Management platform, Kronos, postage machine, and third-party shipping platforms (UPS, FedEx, USPS).

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 3 years of related experience supervising Shipping & Receiving department

Preferred:

  • Knowledge about current Company operations
  • Forklift operator certification
  • Air Shipping / ICAO Regulations knowledge
  • Hazardous Material background
