The College invites applications for the post of Sir John Elliott Junior Research Fellowship in History 1500-1800, with a specialism in any field of continental European history (excluding the British Isles), or Europe and the wider world, including art history, tenable for a period of three years from 1st October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.Applicants should have received a doctorate in a relevant field of History or History of Art within the past five years (career breaks will be discounted), or should be very close to completing (within the next two months). Evidence of publications (commensurate with career state) are desirable.The purpose of the Fellowship is to advance the scholarship of the holder through a programme of original research. The Fellow will be permitted to teach Early Modern History within the College up to a maximum of 4 hours a week during term time. They may also be asked to assist with other administrative tasks such as undergraduate admissions. The main purpose of the Fellowship is to pursue research.The Fellow will receive the following:
