What You’ll Do:

Perform General Physical Activities. As a Skilled Laborer at Vulcan, you will work with either a grading, utility, or erosion crew to ensure the timely completion of our excavation, utility, paving, and concrete projects. Perform various tasks on highway and heavy construction projects assisting with installing erosion materials, using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials. Will also be responsible for grading trenches, laying pipes, sealing joints, and other assigned tasks.

Repair and Maintain Equipment. Assist co-workers in servicing, repairing, and adjusting various equipment on the job site. Will also load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations according to project plans or specifications.

Inspect Worksites. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of the worksite to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations that maximize production and minimize interruptions.

Operate Vehicles and Equipment. Operate heavy construction equipment as well as various power tools.

Skills You’ll Need:

experience. Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred.

Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of grading or roadway construction is preferred.

Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
