How can you make a difference?
Under the general guidance of the Chief Social Policy, the Social Policy Officer (Shock Responsive Social Protection) is accountable for providing technical support and assistance in all stages of social policy programming and related advocacy from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of concrete and sustainable results. This includes expand social protection coverage, cash transfers if needed, enhance social protection programme delivery, strengthen social protection systems, including through linkages with other sectors, strengthen the shock-responsiveness and child-sensitiveness capacity of social protection systems and support the leverage of social protection systems in response to shocks.
This encompasses both direct programme work with government and civil society partners as well as linkages and support to teams working on education, health, child protection, water and sanitation, and HIV. This includes:

Minimum requirements:
Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or another relevant technical field.
Experience:
• A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in social policy, social assistance, and/or social protection.
Language: Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
Desirables:
• Experience working in the area of social protection/social assistance in a developing country is considered as a strong asset.
• Background and/or familiarity with social protection in emergency is considered as a strong asset.
• Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
