The Support organization in OCI is building new services that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. We are addressing complex, large scale, connected event platforms. These services are cornerstones of the Customer experiences offered by OCI and offer a wide variety of technical problems to be solved and customer focused innovations to be created. Our goal is to optimize support costs while delivering a top-tier support experience to our customers.

We’re looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems and highly available services. On our team, you can design and build innovative new systems from the ground up. These are exciting times in our space – we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact. Motivated full-stack engineers with a customer-first mentality and high coding standards who can clearly articulate technical concepts will do well on our team. 

Career Level – IC2

The successful candidate will be a strong coder, with 3+ years of object-oriented programming experience such as Java or C++. They will be a distributed systems generalist, able to dive into any part of the stack, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. They will value simplicity and scale, keeping customer experience top of mind. They will have strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-engineers. They have the ability to work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and deal with ambiguity and change. They will have pride in what they build, and be excited to learn new skills and technologies. 

As a member of the software engineering division, they will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. They will build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture. They will perform troubleshooting and performance tuning. 

They have a strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, including networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), basic network architecture, internet protocols and standards (SMTP, REST, SSL and HTTP), storage systems, and distributed systems. They understand data structures, algorithms, databases, NoSQL, and distributed persistence technologies. 

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with experience building and operating in large-scale, highly available environments that include aspects such as event stream / message queuing, multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure, Unix operating systems. 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required / Master’s preferred.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $73,700 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
