Job Title: Software Developer 3

Location(s): Austin, TX
Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Software Developer III to support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications. This role involves leading software development activities, troubleshooting production issues, optimizing Application performance, supporting database development, and collaborating with technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Candidates should have extensive Java and SQL experience and be comfortable working in Linux-based environments using Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of enterprise software applications.
• Develop and review technical designs, flowcharts, and system documentation.
• Prepare and coordinate user documentation, production instructions, and operational manuals.
• Research, analyze, and recommend software enhancements and system improvements.
• Design, develop, and maintain SQL code, database objects, packages, and triggers.
• Analyze application logs, system messages, memory utilization, thread connectivity, and storage performance to troubleshoot production issues.
• Coordinate software development activities with technical teams and stakeholders.
• Develop detailed technical analyses, implementation plans, and verification procedures.
• Establish development standards, programming procedures, and reporting processes.
• Develop specialized software components to enhance enterprise systems.
• Recommend and implement application performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery processes to ensure business continuity.
• Coordinate and track development tasks across project teams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• 15+ years of Java development experience.
• 10+ years of SQL database development and programming experience.
• 8+ years supporting and enhancing large-scale enterprise applications in a collaborative team environment.
• 5+ years of Linux experience.
• Strong experience troubleshooting complex enterprise applications.
• Experience with application performance tuning and optimization.
• Ability to analyze and resolve production issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience with Atlassian tools, particularly Jira.
• 8+ years of experience working in Agile development environments.
• Experience supporting State of Texas applications.
• Experience working within a Texas public sector environment.
• Experience modernizing or migrating legacy mainframe applications to Java/SQL platforms.
