SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

About the mission

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL (SI) has been responding to humanitarian needs in South Sudan for over since 2006. In 2023, we will continue working alongside communities in some of the hardest to reach areas. SI provides clean water, sanitation and other lifesaving activities, while supporting vulnerable communities to strengthen their resilience to shocks, rebuild their livelihoods, and regain a sense of normality in some of the hardest of circumstances.

In 2024, the mission’s estimated budget is of USD 12 million, and there are 80+ employees.

About the job

General objective:

Under the supervision of the Logistics Coo, the Log carries out logistics management of his/her base, in compliance with donor and SOLIDARITES International procedures.

He/she organizes logistics support to the programs and is charged with ensuring the supervision of all the logistics activities at the base level.

He/she assists the base Manager or the Field Coordinator to implement the security procedures

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure logistics tasks are carried out in a manner that all SI and donor’s procedures are respected.
  • Be the main focal point of all logistics related matters between Base and coordination.
  • Make sure all supplies/services to the programs are delivered on time as per requested delivery.
  • Ensure logistics/program stocks are monitored, recorded and followed up systematically and are in accordance to the rules and regulation of Solidarities International.
  • Manage at team of 5 national staff, supervise their performance and follow all the HR issue related to his/her team
  • Ensure a high level of involvement in SI projects activates and support/coordinate with the operational team in order to reach their objectives smoothly.
  • Organizing logistics support to the Field Coordinator to implement the security procedures and act as a security back up for the team while the Field coo is not able to do so.
  • This position requires strong field experience and autonomy. He/she will need to manage logistical activates in compound environment, where market for services and supplies are limited.

Your profile

Education / academic background:

Education: Bachelor degree in logistic or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 6 months of international experience, preferably in emergency or humanitarian contexts; experience in sensitive environments (post-conflict, conflict), IDP/refugee camp experience is an added value.

Previous experience of local partner capacity building and management is an asset.

Technical skills and knowledge: Knowledge in procurement, fleet (car, motorbike) and premises (energy, ICT, security) management. Knowledge of Solidarites International rules and procedures in terms of logistic matters (purchase process…) preferred.

Transferable skills: Experience in training a small team and local partners – Significant importance on capacity building for this position. Excel.

Languages: Good English command (spoken and written) essential;

Other desirable qualities: Autonomy – Sense of diplomacy – Patience very appreciate when it comes to deal with local partner – Asian experience valued

Language: English mandatory, arabic is an asset

SI will offer you

A salaried position:
According to experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month (2100 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 700.

SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of assignment.

Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.

Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

LIVING CONDITIONS:

Internet and Air conditioned 24/7 in the office and the compound (each room). Thanks to the previous field co we now have our own shower and toilets within the compound.

Possibility to do sport within the humanitarian hub (running, volley ball, soccer…).

Possibility to have a social life and interact outside work with all the humanitarians from the PoC living in the hub.
