QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  2. Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) dietitian license.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication.
  4. Extensive knowledge of nutrition related disabilities and disorders and diet modification techniques.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality is essential.
  6. Demonstrated strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  7. Sound judgment and decision-making skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Annual Contract: 250 days

SALARY/PAY GRADE:

Minimum: $68,473 (BA-4)

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan special diet menus that meet or exceed USDA requirements, are nutritionally adequate and are well accepted.
  2. Maintain food production records, recipes, and menus for all special diets.
  3. Develop and track training for special diet preparation and service.
  4. Frequent travel to district campuses and facilities to ensure that special diet menu items are being stored, prepared, and served correctly.
  5. Manage food allergy and dysphagia diet accommodations for the district. Work with and provide information to parents and staff for children with special dietary needs.
  6. Provide timely communication with parents, medical professionals and dietitians concerning student dietary accommodation requests.
  7. Maintain accurate records of active dietary accommodations and archived dietary requests.
  8. Work with district nurses and speech pathologists to implement diets for students with special dietary needs, create special menus as needed and coordinate accommodations with cafeteria managers.
  9. Work with Nutrition Services Assistant Director, Customer Engagement, Executive Chef, and Food Production Center leads to identify and develop specialty meal items for Allergen Free and Dysphagia meals.
  10. Attend caseload meetings with district speech pathology staff.
  11. Evaluate all new food products for potential allergens and flag any allergens in the POS system.
  12. Assist buyer with allergen identification and purchase of allergen free foods.
  13. Supervise Nutrition Services units during summer operations.
  14. Support the Nutrition Services Department with regular and reliable attendance.
  15. Perform related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director Nutrition Services, Customer Engagement, and the Director of Nutrition Services.

Work with frequent interruptions, and maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions; prolonged

use of a computer.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY:

All Nutrition Services employees must use good body mechanics and follow safe working procedures including infection control. The employee must report any unsafe condition to a manager or supervisor and demonstrate no on-the-job injuries due to lack of good safety practices. On-the-job accidents must be reported immediately to the manager or supervisor and an accident report completed.
