Join the Bureau of Special Education/Division of Monitoring and Improvement in this Special Education Advisor role with our Western Division region, specifically Intermediate Unit 4 area (Butler, Lawrence, Mercer counties). If you are well read on federal and state special education law, policy, procedures and guidelines; have a passion for supporting schools in providing services to students with disabilities; and have strong analytical and writing skills, this position is for you. In this role, your focus will be the provision of advisory and consultative services to local education agencies and Intermediate Units in the planning, monitoring, improvement, and evaluation of special education programs and services in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. You will be responsible for conducting plan reviews and approving intermediate unit and school district special education plans which will ensure that a full range of services are being provided for students with disabilities. This includes assuring program compliance through cyclical monitoring in local education agencies, investigating complaints as required by federal regulations, following up on reports, and conducting fact findings. Your work may also include on-site activities as well as participation in public meetings organized for the improvement of programs and services for students with disabilities.
