Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs?Long Term Futures is working with a highly regarded Ofsted Outstanding special school in Derby (DE3). We are looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team!The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students aged 11-16 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autism, social-emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties.With a strong focus on personal development and academic achievement, students here thrive, gaining GCSEs and functional skills qualifications. Parents praise the school’s belief in every child’s potential, and staff are committed to ensuring each student builds confidence, independence, and key life skills.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist in delivering engaging lessons and structured activities.
  • Help create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and encourage student progress, fostering independence and resilience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, autism, or SEMH needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication skills to build trust with students.
  • A team player who can work closely with teachers and support staff.
