<div class="isg-job-description“>Purpose: Responsible for the direct supervision of the Special Products Department and Shipping Department employees. Special Products – organizes and plans production in advance. Utilizing Lean manufacturing principles and designs, recommends process improvements to eliminate quality escapes & safety hazards, and increase manufacturing efficiency. Shipping – Plan, direct, coordinate, organize, and control all resources associated with department.
Essential Functions:  
 

  • Develops and maintains up-to-date work instructions and training manuals for all processes within the departments.
  • Establishes and nurtures effective working relationships with team members and cross-functional leaders.
  • Assigns daily work duties, manages staffing plans, schedules time off, conducts employee performance evaluations, and provides coaching and discipline when necessary.
  • Ensures all departmental employees are trained and cross-trained to maintain operational continuity during absences due to vacations, illnesses, or demand surges.
  • Utilizes D365 MRP software to:
    • Plan and schedule production orders.
    • Monitor material availability and inventory transactions.
    • Generate and analyze performance and inventory metrics.
  • Oversees daily documentation of all shipments via the company’s document management system and ensures monthly metrics are accurately updated and reported.
  • Supervises product packaging, labeling, and shipment preparation to guarantee safe, accurate, and on-time deliveries to customers.
  • Leads efforts to ensure that all manufacturing and shipping processes are compliant with safety protocols and free of hazards.
  • Enforces adherence to company safety rules and ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Actively participates in Safety Committee initiatives and leads accident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Has the authority to shut down unsafe equipment and ensure hazards are fully mitigated and repaired before work resumes.
  • Manages department housekeeping standards, inventory storage, and organization following Lean 5S principles.
  • Processes purchase order requisitions for materials and supplies as needed to support operations.
  • Oversees and verifies the accuracy of monthly and quarterly physical inventories, ensuring alignment with perpetual inventory data maintained in D365 MRP.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintains and prepares accurate reports and records.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving, reasoning, and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven ability to plan and manage work schedules.
  • Prior experience in supervisory roles, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Proficiency with MRP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).

education:
 

  • High School Diploma, College preferred.

Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:
Salaried Exempt, no travel
