Sr. Project Manager – Life Scienced Operations

The Sr. Project Manager, Life Sciences Operations is a role that will lead and manage cross-functional teams to deliver on projects being initiated by owners from within the business division. The role is responsible for the end-to-end and comprehensive management of projects from initiation through delivery and closure. The Sr. Project Manager will be required to follow all basic divisional PMO processes, leverage standardized project management tools, and also tailor their management approach to the needs of their specific project(s).

  • Assist with project business case development to ensure project benefits, objectives, strategy, budget, timeline, et cetera are well-defined and aligned with business needs.
  • Develop and obtain approval of the project charter to secure resources and funding needed to deliver the project.
  • Develop a detailed and comprehensive project management plan to ensure successful project execution, including but not limited to schedule development, risk management plan, communication plan, change management plan, budget management plan, etc.
  • Lead the project team and manage their activities during project execution to achieve high-quality project outcomes that are on time, within scope, and within budget to fulfill the project’s objectives and deliver expected benefits.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external teams, as applicable, to ensure project success.
  • Evaluate project performance during execution and post-project delivery to identify and document lessons learned and opportunities to gain efficiency and enhance effectiveness in the future.
  • Resolve issues that arise during the project to minimize their impacts.
  • Escalate significant project risks and issues for awareness and guidance from leadership/steering committee.
  • Maintain and update project management information in the PMO’s Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool.
  • Provide monthly project status reporting to the PMO and the business division’s leadership team.

Travel: 

May require ~ 5% commercial travel (international or domestic)

  • Knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., 21 CRF part 11, etc.)
  • Knowledge of industry standard project management methodologies (e.g., PMI standards/PMBOK)
  • Ability to read and understand vendor proposals, contracts and agreements, and highly technical material.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, etc.) Advanced preferred.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of collaboration software (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Miro, etc.). Advanced preferred.

Work Environment:

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant project management experience with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering on highly complex and challenging projects
  • Knowledge and application of Project Management methodologies
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or biotechnology
  • Experience using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.)
  • Experience using collaboration software (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Miro, etc.)
  • Experience using other basic office software (e.g., Microsoft 365 suite)
  • Experience using Project Portfolio Management software (e.g., Microsoft Project Server/Online, Smartsheet, etc.)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or disciplines related to Project Management, Business Management, or Communications.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) credential (equivalent) or Project Management degree preferred.
  • Any combination of education and experience will be considered.
