Staff Accountant–Payroll

Location: Mt. Sterling, IL

Department: Payroll

Reports To: Director of Compensation

Salary Range: $57,314-$85,971 annually, plus bonus opportunity

As a Staff Accountant, this individual, will perform various functions to meet internal and external customer expectations including timely and accurate closing of the accounting periods, financial and managerial reporting, budget preparation, supplier and customer net margin review and reporting, inventory control accounting, and other projects as required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Analyzes salary and benefit expenses in comparison to budget for management.
• Reports on hours, headcount, payroll, and employment tax credits.
• Assists in compensation administration such as wage surveys, compensation analysis, and ad hoc reporting for compensation committees.
• General Ledger account reconciliation as it pertains to payroll, benefits, and payroll tax liability accounts.
• Assists in compiling information for Total Compensation Statements for employees.
• Assists in bonus and incentive plan computations as well as the payroll budgeting process.
• Applies lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Excellent organization, communication, and planning skills.
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle confidential material in a professional manner.
• Strong knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Access programs

YOU MAY ALSO HAVE

• Previous experience in payroll, accounting, or compensation/data analysis.
• Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.

ROLE SPECIFICS

• Travel – Occasional overnight travel for internal trainings and meetings. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
