Staff Nurse – UI Health Care Bettendorf Family Medicine 70%

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient centered 70% Staff Nurse (28 hours per week) to work at our Bettendorf Family Medicine Clinic. Our family medicine staff can see everyone in the family, in every generation, from birth, for life. And when anyone in the family needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects our patients with the UI Health Care specialist needed. If a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the UI Health Care specialist for their needs. UI Health Care specialists will consult the same medical record used by our family medicine provider, so our patient’s specialty care is streamlined. This position will support the clinic in providing leadership and project support as the nurse on-site, phone triage support, helping with prior authorizations, as well as assist with nurse visits.

Our Staff Nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor each family member’s health care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

This position supports our other clinics located within the building which includes but not limited to: Pediatrics, Dermatology, Outreach, and Endocrinology.

Duties to include:

• Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
• Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
• Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
• Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
• Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
• Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.

Percent of Time: 70% (28 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours completed Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM; no weekends, no holidays, and no-on call time.

Location: Bettendorf, IA (and surrounding clinics based on clinical need/hours)

Pay Grade: 52 – https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/plans

Salary: $55,910 – $102,559 (based on years of experience)

Education

• An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required

Required Qualifications

• Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
• General computer skills are required.
• Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
• Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Desired Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
• If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
• Previous Family Medicine experience
• Previous Dermatology experience
• Previous Endocrinology experience
• Previous Pediatric experience
• Experience with telephone triage
• Strong phlebotomy skills
• Minimum 1 year of ambulatory clinic experience
• Previous experience successfully working autonomously
• Familiarity with UI Health Care and ambulatory clinic workflows
• Previous EPIC experience
