Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for the Division of Student Affairs, serves as the central administrator of a university-wide program dedicated to increasing the enrollment, retention and graduation rates of students from populations that are severely underrepresented in higher education, particularly African American males.
The Director coordinates the application and project proposal review process and makes funding decisions with the input of the Associate Director and senior administrators in the Division of Student Affairs. Working closely with the Associate Director to develop and utilize the social network websites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to promote the program throughout the college and beyond. The Director will work closely with other Division of Student Affairs administrators, and support programs to coordinate University-wide meetings, conferences, seminars, training and events. The Director also participates in outreach to various CUNY colleges, high schools, and city-wide agencies/organizations to promote and fosters collaborative partnerships with internal partners throughout the University and cultivates relationships with external partners throughout New York City and beyond. As for program development and fundraising, the Director works closely with the Vice President of Student Affairs and the Foundation administrators to develop a fundraising agenda for UMLP. Once grants are secured, the Director serves as the primary contact for funders and coordinates the stewardship of funds from public and private sources that support the UMLP and the Division of Student Affairs.
Finally, the Director is responsible for developing a strategy for the creation of an institute that is dedicated to examining issues and topics related to social and educational equity for students from populations that are severely underrepresented in higher education, particularly African American and Hispanic males. In addition, s/he attends NASPA, professional development activities, programs, workshops and seminars to enhance and increase knowledgeable awareness to the UMLP and college.
