Student Research Assistant – College of Law

The College of Law is currently seeking Student Research Assistants to join their team. Duties to include:

• Works directly with assigned faculty member.
• Monitors and revises FIU Canvas for courses
• Produces bibliographies of books and articles
• Conducts research in the various online databases, e.g., Westlaw; LexisNexis; SSRN; Hein Online, Social Science Journals, et cetera
• Performs assigned law research
• Cite checks, proof reads, and edits manuscripts
• Researches recent legal developments and writes memoranda that provide background for my teaching and scholarship
• Develops and collects research materials for essays, articles, op-eds, and blogs
• Performs discrete research tasks to identify authorities to cite in my writings
• Drafts short memoranda discussing the results of their research
• Proofreads and edits technical writing.
• Complete Microsoft Excel Training.
• PantherSoft transactions.

• Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.
• Ability to work in a team setting.
• Basic level of Microsoft Word.
• None to basic Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.

Student Assistant

• Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
• During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
• Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

• Hours vary according to class schedule and faculty office hours.
• Will vary, may work up to 20 hours per week.

• $13.00 per hour
