Job Share Opportunity: Student Service, Support and Development ManagerThe School of Medical Sciences is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Student Service, Support and Development Manager in a job share capacity. This role is essential to the success and growth of our Teaching, Learning, and Student Experience initiatives. The position is a 50:50 split, with each manager working 17.5 hours per week. This is a fixed-term role for 12 months.About the Role:As a Student Service, Support and Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our student support services. Reporting directly to the Head of Teaching, Learning, and Student Experience, you will work strategically to oversee and enhance activities within the SSSD environment.You will co-manage two key teams:

  • Student Support and Wellbeing Team: This team provides a range of support services, including face-to-face interactions at the Student Hub, advising on mitigating circumstances, and enhancing student engagement and progression.
  • Information, Advice, and Guidance Team: This team delivers excellent customer service through the Student Support Hub and oversees areas such as peer mentoring, student voice initiatives, careers and employability support, student surveys, Welcome and Induction events, Graduation, and bespoke student engagement activities.

In this job share, each manager will take direct responsibility for one of these teams while collaborating to ensure a cohesive and effective student support service.What we’re looking for:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with a strategic mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Customer Focus: Significant experience in a customer-oriented environment, particularly within information, advice, and student support services.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding across different audiences.
  • Hybrid Working: While there is flexibility for hybrid working, this role requires regular on-campus presence to maintain strong connections with students and academic staff.
