Smith & Wesson is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Intern to join our team for Summer 2026! This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience and exposure to the increases in manufacturing efficiency to meet customer demands and identifying areas to implement next generation technology to continue pioneering the future of Smith & Wesson.

Location, Schedule, & Compensation:

• In-office/non-remote
• Springfield, MA
• 40 hours per week
• Monday-Friday
• Internship Dates: May 18th-August 14th (dates may vary depending on local college calendars)
• Paid ($18)

education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree program in a technical or engineering field such as mechanical, manufacturing or related areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete assignments as assigned by our Advanced Manufacturing team.
• Collaborate across multiple functional areas including supply chain, engineering, production, and other groups to implement and design technologies that impact multiple areas of business operations.
• Assist with the development, implementation, sustainment and improvement of advanced systems used in the manufacture of firearms.
• Learn how we analyze current program manufacturing and development processes, identifying opportunities for automation, modifications, and improvements.
• Exposure to conducting research and analysis to determine the feasibility, costs, and performance benefits of advanced manufacturing technologies or enhancements (for example Vision Systems, Augmented Reality or Automation).

Physical Demands:

• Sitting, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, fine and gross upper body motor movement.
• Extended time in a sitting position, prolonged use of a computer, and possible eye strain.
• Occasional lift: 0 to 30 pounds

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required: Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are required when on the manufacturing floor. The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
