DESCRIPTION
The Patient Support Services Supervisor supports the CNA Float Pool by managing the administrative operations of multiple patient support services departments for the Medical Center. Administrative oversight includes developing objectives and policies, developing and monitoring department budgets, evaluating department productivity and personnel performance, and evaluating requests for new or additional services for departments under direction. Activities also include contributing to strategic planning and directing all activities of patient support services departments through subordinate staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Seven (7) years of relevant healthcare experience including at least three (3) years of CNA experience in an acute care hospital setting; OR a Bachelor’s degree in related field plus three (3) years of relevant healthcare experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Active California CNA license.

BART or BLS certification at the time of hire, with a commitment to obtain BART certification within six months of the hire date.

Ability to supervise administrative and/or para-technical team. Ability to motivate and inspire staff.

Strong knowledge of applicable patient care support activities and systems.
-
Knowledge of internal policies, relevant federal and state laws and regulations. Ability to apply knowledge to identify compliance risks.

Working knowledge of human resources activities including the ability to monitor, evaluate, and document employee performance.

Ability to employ critical thinking to analyze issues, develop recommendations, and resolve problems.
-
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of organization.

Working knowledge of business software, EHR systems and relevant specialized clinical applications. Ability to produce reports.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training and/or de-escalation training and experience.

Exposure to or knowledge of Virtual Monitoring Technology (VMT) or e-sitter systems.

Leadership experience, such as scheduling, timekeeping, or serving as a preceptor or mentor to peers.

Experience working in a unionized environment with the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.

EPIC, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.

Proficient with using Microsoft Office and Tableau.
-
Bilingual: Spanish/English.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $71,600 – $127,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $34.29 – $61.02
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
