position Overview
The Supervisor, HCBS Assessor provides leadership and oversight for staff conducting in-home assessments for individuals with developmental disabilities participating in the New Mexico Mi Via Waiver program.
This role combines field-based assessment responsibilities with operational supervision, ensuring high-quality assessments, compliance with program requirements, and effective team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership

Provide operational supervision for HCBS assessor staff conducting in-home assessments.

Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management in collaboration with leadership and HR.

Deliver ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.

Ensure staff have the tools, resources, and guidance needed to perform effectively.
Assessment & Program Oversight

Conduct face-to-face assessments with participants to determine eligibility for the Mi Via Waiver program.

Utilize tools such as the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Assessment to evaluate functional domains.

Coordinate and schedule assessments with participants and caregivers.

Document assessment results accurately within required timelines.
Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Medicaid policies, program requirements, and documentation standards.

Participate in quality management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide recommendations and insights to clinical reviewers.
Collaboration & Communication
-
Work closely with internal teams, clinical reviewers, and external partners.

Participate in regular team meetings and case consultations.

Support training and development of new and existing staff.
Required Qualifications
-
Associate degree (AA/AS) in social work, psychology, behavioral health, nursing, or a related field

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience
-
2+ years of experience in social services, nursing, or related field
-
1 year of supervisory or lead experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
-
Licensure in a mental health or related discipline
-
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)

Experience with Medicaid programs and policies
-
Experience with Vineland assessment tools or similar
Skills and Competencies

Strong leadership and decision-making skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

Ability to assess adaptive functioning and document findings accurately

Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality practices

Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems

Strong organizational and time management skills
Additional Requirements

Ability to work in a field-based environment, including in-home visits

Frequent travel required within New Mexico

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and good driving record
