The Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, NJ opened in May 2025. This is a $750 million, 12-story, 510,000-square-foot facility and is the state’s first and only freestanding cancer hospital. Patients at the center will be able to receive a range of inpatient and outpatient cancer care, including advanced imaging services as well as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and surgical treatments. Wellness, prevention, and education resources will also be available for the community, patients, caregivers, and families.

Job Overview:

• Cleans all patient and non-patient areas of the hospital, and other areas as directed.

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads to keep areas clean and well serviced.
• Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
• Work with constant concern for the safety of all people (Patients, Visitors Etc.)
• Interacts in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments to accomplish the goals and objectives of the hospital for effective patient care.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Including bending, stooping and stretching.

Scheduling Requirements:

• Mandatory 3-week training M-F 6:30am – 3:00pm; Must be able to commit.
• Rotating Weekends and Holidays required.
• Shift working: Per Diem Nights 10:30pm 7:00am

Essential Functions:

• Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas.
• Vacuum and spot-clean mats and carpets, as assigned.
• Empty, clean and re-line waste baskets. Transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas.
• Wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare beds for new occupants.
• Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens.
• Clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary.
• Notifies supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low. Report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas.
• Maintains tools and equipment in good condition, is responsible for economical use of supplies.
• Mechanical aptitude for operating machines and equipment may include hard floor surface maintenance, e.g. stripping, refinishing, burnishing and shampooing carpets.
• Delivers clean linen throughout the facility.
• Enhances professional growth and development by attending in-service, required meetings and other educational programs.
