Support Worker – Mental Health Support Team

The Mental Health Support Team is an early intervention service designed to support Cornwall’s primary schools in their efforts to address Children’s Mental Health.The MHST support worker role is an exciting development to expand our reach and increase the number of schools we can support. The role will cover a designated area of Cornwall (i.e. Carrick / Penwith) and the ability to travel to schools in these areas is an essential requirement.Please be aware that unfortunately relocation support is not available for this role.This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.Main duties of the jobSupport workers will work closely with our qualified staff to deliver specific targeted intervention to schools. A significant amount of group work practice is envisaged and full support and training will be given to enable workers to deliver a selected range of psychoeducational or supportive interventions. Initially this work will be jointly delivered but over time the support worker will feel equipped to deliver these interventions independently.Regular supervision will be offered as will opportunities for involvement in project work.About usWe’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.We work in people’s homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area.
