Sanders Brothers Construction Company is currently seeking a safe and professional Sweeper Truck Operator/Driver to support our Charleston area operations.  Will operate a Sweeper Truck providing prompt service to customers on scheduled routes, including new housing developments, local cities & road construction, etc. The truck removes debris, including broken pavement, asphalt and concrete millings, mud and construction materials or highway debris build-up due to seasonal /weather changes and highway waste.   Sanders Brothers Construction Company offers year-round stability, a positive team-oriented working environment, competitive pay, industry leading benefits, along with a career where you can develop and enhance your capabilities to the fullest.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform required a pre / post-trip inspection the equipment that you would be operating.
  • Review scheduled routes assigned, be proactive in asking questions if route / job is unclear.
  • Perform the safe operation of a CDL Broom Sweeper Truck.
  • Complete assigned job(s) in the time allotted while maintaining quality of work.
  • Exercise extra caution during inclement weather.
  • Report any equipment failures.
  • Maintain DOT driving qualifications
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed which may require working more than 40 hours but within DOT requirements weekly.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc.
  • Keep company vehicle clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems.
  • Will operate within the Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties region
  • Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other general duties as specified.

 
Qualifications and education Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by SBCC policy.
  • Current DOT Medical card
  • Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
  • Must meet SBCC’s employment standards with regards to background checks.
  • Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
  • Active, physical work involving occasionally; lifting (50+ lbs.), carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching; walking, standing, and driving and operating equipment for extended periods of time. Requires focus adjustment, depth perception, clear close & distant vision. Use of ear, eye and other safety equipment.
  • Requires regular use of hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
