The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated technical professional to join the Information Systems & Technology organization at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in Charleston, SC. This organization oversees IT operations supporting both classified and unclassified enterprise networks at NNPTC.As a System Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and advancing the IT infrastructure supporting the training of Naval Nuclear operators. The position requires a broad knowledge of IT operations, including network switches, servers, storage devices, security, and applications. You will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment, directly contributing to the mission-critical training efforts at NNPTC.
Day to day includes, but is not limited to:
- Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure and equipment.
- Route and test new network cables.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair networked devices, including clients, printers, switches, servers, and storage devices.
- Ensure implementation of all applicable security requirements for associated equipment.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects while adapting to dynamic work requirements.
- Collaborate within the organization and across the site to integrate work responsibilities.
- Participate in projects that implement infrastructure, Application, or system solutions, ensuring timely delivery of functional, technical, and security requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Cisco network hardware, configurations, and infrastructure (CCNA/CCNP certification preferred).
- CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+).
- Experience with installation, termination, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Virtual machine management experience.
- Vulnerability management expertise.
- Experience creating and maintaining scripts (e.g., PowerShell).
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to thrive in team environments.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong work ethic and a desire for continuous learning.
- Ability to interface effectively across multiple sites.
- Project management experience is a plus.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
