Location: Livingston, NJ 

Status: Full Time

Hours: Monday- Friday 8:15 am-3:15 pm; 12 months with approximately 8 weeks paid recess plus personal time 

Salary: $36,000.00 To $38,000.00 Annually

Summary: Pillar High School, an approved private school for students with disabilities, is seeking a dedicated full-time Teacher Assistant with a Substitute Certificate to join our team and play a vital role in fostering student growth, independence, and success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in all areas of instruction, including academics, daily routines, therapy groups (aquatic & hippotherapy), and special activities.
• Support students with daily living skills such as feeding, toileting, and mobility while encouraging independence and socialization.
• Help adapt instructional activities and materials to meet individualized learning needs and assist in preparing classroom displays.
• Follow student program requirements, work independently, and take initiative in daily routines and lessons.
• Supervise students during arrival, departure, and bus duty.
• Implement effective classroom behavior management strategies in accordance with school guidelines.
• Collaborate with therapists to implement sensory diets, feeding plans, AAC communication strategies, and therapeutic IEP goals.
• Serve as a positive role model by maintaining professionalism, teamwork, and a cooperative attitude.
• Be punctual and prepared for meetings, conferences, and training sessions.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma required (college coursework preferred).
• Valid Substitute Certificate required.
• Experience working with children with special needs is a plus.
• Must pass a fingerprint examination and criminal history check.
