Milwaukee Public Schools is actively recruiting experienced and licensed candidates for teaching positions throughout the district in grades 4-8 for the 2025-26 school year.
A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) teacher provides an instructional program for students which is appropriate to their educational needs and developmental level. The educational program is offered in an equitable, multi-cultural setting and teaches all children to think deeply, critically and creatively. The teacher supports the MPS strategic plan.
Appointment is subject to a criminal background check, a drug/alcohol test and credential verification.

Congress – Grade 4
Douglas MS – Grade 6-8 Science & ELA Grades 6-8
Elm – Grade 4
Green Tree – Grade 6-8 Math, Grade 6-8 English
Hartford – Grades 6-8 Math
Hayes – Grade 6 ELA/Math (Bilingual)
Hi-Mount – Grade 8
King MS – Grade 7/8 Math & Science
Kluge – Grade 4
LaFollette – Grade 4/5 split
Lincoln Center of-Arts MS – Grades 6-8 Science (2)
MACL – Grade 4, Grade 6, Grade 4-8 Math/ESL
Obama – Grade 7
Riley – Grade 7/8 Bilingual Montessori
Roosevelt – Grade 7 Math
Sherman – Grade 7
Sign Language – Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7, & Grade 8
Townsend – Grade 7
Applicants MUST have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Applicants with a valid teaching license from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instuction covering grades 4-8 are preferred.
If you are not a licensed teacher but are interested in pursuing a teaching position, you must be willing and eligible to enroll in an accredited licensure program within one semester of hire.
Teacher pay starts at $54,386.11 and increases according to a set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor’s degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching experience.
