| Teacher Assistant Job Summary Under administrative supervision of the School Leader and/or Assistant School Leader and the day-to-day direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, assist the Lead Teacher in planning and providing a stimulating and comprehensive learning environment for infants, toddlers or pre-school children; assume lead teacher responsibilities in absence of the Lead Teacher; perform activities meeting Federal Early Head Start and Head Start Performance Standards and any regulatory standard regarding classroom activity. Responsibilities/Essential Functions * Comply with the education content mandates of the Head Start Performance Standards, program assessment, and service plans * Assist in the daily operations for the classroom. * Assist with developing weekly lesson plans. * Utilize CAP-selected classroom support model to assist with classroom management. * Attend and assist with home visit and parent conferences. * Participate in Family Child Review meetings once a month or as required. * Work cooperatively with all CAP employees, Family Support personnel, volunteers and collaborative partners. * Build and maintain good parent/teacher relationships to encourage parent involvement. * Assist with required documentation including, but not limited to: Monthly Reports, Attendance, Meal Count, Family Contacts and Child Injury Reports. * Complete the Lead Teacher’s responsibilities in absence of the Lead Teacher. * Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Required Education/experience 4 year old Classroom Associates Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in any subject and have a Pre-School Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year) OR Para Qualified and have a Pre-School Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year) OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in any subject and have 12 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education 3 Year Old Classroom Have a Pre-School CDA credential (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year) OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in any subject with 12 or more Early Childhood college credit hours with experience teaching Pre-School age children OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in any subject and have a Pre-School CDA credential (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year) 0-36 month Classroom Infant/Toddler CDA credential OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in any subject and have 12 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education and 480 hours professional experience with Infant/Toddlers (can be retroactive within past 5 years) OR Associates Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood or related field PLUS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities * Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors. * Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively. * Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines. * Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure. * Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc Essential Physical & Mental Requirements Employee is subject to standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying objects throughout daily job performance. Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
