Position Overview The Diederich College of Communication at Marquette
University invites applications for a nontenure-track position for a
teaching instructor beginning August 11, 2025, with a teaching
specialization in communication studies. We seek an engaged full-time
participating faculty member (non-tenure track) to join our
Communication Studies department who can work collaboratively across
departments within the college and with other academic programs at the
university. Candidates should have a teaching background in
communication or closely related field. The candidate will be expected
to teach courses across the communication studies curriculum, which may
include: theory, persuasion, interpersonal, small group, organizational,
public speaking, consulting, and/or other courses in their area of
expertise at both the undergraduate and graduate level. This includes
teaching a large lecture course and supervising graduate teaching
assistants. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be responsible
for advising undergraduate and graduate students, and serving on college
and university committees. Review of applications will begin on March 1
and will continue until the position is filled. J. William and Mary
Diederich College of Communication: The College includes the departments
of Communication Studies, Digital Media and Performing Arts, Journalism
and Media Studies, and Strategic Communication. A transformational $28
million gift from the Diederich family funded the renovation of historic
Johnston Hall, which houses the College. This renewal furnished Johnston
Hall with state-of-the-art laboratory and studio technology. Today, the
Diederich gift helps support faculty development, travel, and research
throughout the College. The College has a strong commitment to achieving

candidate will be expected to teach courses across the communication
studies curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate level. This is a
3-4 teaching load. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be
responsible for advising undergraduate and graduate students and serving
on college and university committees. Required Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities Earned master’s degree, completed prior to the start of
appointment. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence. Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The candidate should hold a master’s
degree in communication or closely relate field. Additionally, the
candidate should demonstrate potential for engaged teaching excellence.
