position SUMMARY:
Prepares and dispenses prescribed medication under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, in accordance with hospital and outside regulatory agency standards and regulations. Maintains pharmacy area in a clean, neat and orderly condition.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Position requires walking, standing sitting for prolonged periods of time.
* Occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds and carries small objects from waist to chest.
* Must be able to type.
* Ability to distinguish telephone rings and to hear and speak clearly over the telephone.
* Regularly needs to bend, stoop and reach.
* Must be able to speak, read and write.
* Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
SKILLS:
Requires organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Skill in use and operation of a personal computer helpful. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a highly stressful situation. Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere at all times. Ability to operate pharmacy computer system, unit dose cart filling, perform repetitive tasks, and complete inventory.

Qualifications

experience/education:
High school diploma or equivalent and a diploma from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program required. Experience preferred.
Staff Development Requirements:
Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.
Exposure Category: III
The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. ues.
