LOCATION: Based in Erbil, travel to governorates of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI): Duhok, Erbil, Sulaimaniya, and Halabja.

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

CONTRACT: 1 Year

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Team Leader, the TVET Expert will lead on designing and implementing three work packages (WP). The responsibilities for each WP are outlined below;

WP2: Design and implement short-term vocational training programmes.

  • Conduct a Needs Assessment
  • Utilise or Develop Training Curricula
  • Identify and Engage Qualified Trainers
  • Develop an Outreach and Selection Mechanism
  • Deliver Short-Term Vocational Training Programmes
  • Organise Job Matching Activities

WP3: Placing vocational training participants into internships with employers.

  • Business mapping and Engaging Employers
  • Profile Training Participants
  • Implement Matching Process
  • Establish Agreements
  • Implement Internship Programme
  • Provide further Guidance

WP4: Design and execute a pilot of the Dual Vocational Training Scheme in KRI.

  • Concept Development
  • Development of Dual Vocational Training Programme for KRI
  • Selection of VTCs
  • Assessment and Selection of Qualified Trainers
  • Conduct Orientation Sessions for potential participating companies and sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with them
  • Training of In-Company Trainers
  • Participants Selection Process
  • Dual Vocational Training Implementation and Certification
  • Transition to the Labour Market

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/training:

  • University degree (Master’s or equivalent Diploma) in Education, TVET or Educational Management or completed vocational training at level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework (e.g. master craftsman’s certificate)

Language:

  • Knowledge of English, C1-level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

General professional experience:

  • 7 years of professional experience in TVET

Specific professional experience:

  • 5 years of professional experience in designing and implementing TVET curricula following a CBT approach
  • 5 years of professional experience in designing, facilitating or implementing dual/ cooperative TVET approaches

International professional experience outside the country/region of assignment:

  • 5 years of professional experience in one country outside the Middle East

Professional experience in the country/ region of assignment:

  • 2 years of professional experience in the Middle East

Experience in the field of development cooperation:

  • 5 years of professional experience in development cooperation projects
