Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. Mine Action and Disarmament’s vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by Explosive Ordnance (EO). Currently, NPA has more than 20 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, South East Europe and the Middle East.

Do you have experience working directly with external partners and stakeholders in delivering trainings? Are you motivated for a role where you will be fully responsible for the day-to-day planning, preparation and delivery of EOD trainings? Then you might be the candidate that we are looking for!

Location: Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina with frequent travel to NPA’s programme countries.

Requirements:

  • Minimum IMAS EOD L3+.
  • Relevant education or equivalent qualifications (mine action NGO or commercial EOD work, or military qualifications with international deployments).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience of conducting formal EOD training and transfer of knowledge and skills.
  • Experience working directly with external partners/stakeholders in delivering training/projects.
  • Technical knowledge of EOD, including new developments.
  • Thorough knowledge of IMAS and the EOD competencies.
  • Ability to contribute technical knowledge and clearance targets to proposals and reports.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English.
  • Good numeracy and IT skills.
  • Valid international driving license.

As a person, you are structured, good at cooperating and goal-oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Fully responsible for the day-to-day planning, preparation and delivery of EOD training in accordance with the IMAS competencies for EOD level 1, 2 and 3+.
  • Liaise with the NPA Bosnia and Herzegovina programme who support the delivery of the training.
  • Liaise with the Bosnian Armed Forces to conduct the training.
  • Assist the Global Special Advisor in the review and revision of EOD training packages.
  • Review, revise and update EOD SOPs and the EOD training packages.
  • Develop and implement annual training plans.
  • Ensure all administration and logistics requirements to conduct training are met.
  • Liaise with and support students to gain permissions to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina and attend training at the Bosnian Armed Forces training center.
  • Report to the Global Special Advisor WAM on the conduct of the training.
  • Review the training packages and amend them to ensure best delivery of training.

*Validity of the offer and contract depends on satisfactory medical certificate, full vaccination, valid travel visa and necessary permits for service and residency in the country of service. The offer and contract also depend on donor funding and might be subject to donor approval.
