The successful candidate will have expertise in neuro-musculoskeletal modelling, biomechanics, virtual/augmented reality, robotics, wearable sensors, exoskeletons, and/or medical imaging. They will lead a research program that will explore neuro-musculoskeletal disorders, orthopaedics, prosthetics, and/or optimization of human mobility, performance and ergonomics and translate findings into clinical applications. As an internationally recognized leader, the Chairholder is expected to play a leadership role within the , and expand existing relationships with national and international stakeholders.Located on the unceded territory of the Anishinaabe-Algonquin people, in the heart of downtown Ottawa and in close proximity to multiple national agencies, the University of Ottawa is recognized as the first and largest bilingual university in North America and provide strong connections to organisational, government and policy interest holders. The School of Human Kinetics is rooted in multiple, interconnected disciplines that view sport, physical activity, health and leisure from different knowledge perspectives. Beyond biomechanics and motor control, research areas of interest include socio-cultural and leisure, sport management and psychology and pedagogy.Tier 1 Chairs, tenable for seven years and renewable once, are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders in their fields. For each Tier 1 Chair, the institution receives $200,000 annually for seven years. Nominees for Tier 1 Chair positions must be full professors or associate professors who are expected to be promoted to the full professor level within one or two years of the nomination. Alternatively, if they come from outside the academic sector, nominees must possess the necessary qualifications to be appointed at these levels. Rank and salary: Regular tenure-track academic appointment in the Faculty of Health Science . The salary scale for a full professor starts at $131,803 and for an associate professor it starts at $109,776 (scale of the collective agreement between APUO and the University of Ottawa as of May 1, 2025).
