Background
Tiko, (formerly known as Triggerise) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services for young people in Africa. Tiko’s mission is to empower young people to make informed choices about their SRH needs by providing accessible, scalable, and verifiable services through a digital platform. Currently, Tiko has offices in five (5) Sub-Saharan markets namely; South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, and Zambia, as well as in the Netherlands and Portugal.
Tiko is seeking a research consultant (firm or individual) to assess the impact of its Zana Africa life skills camps for adolescent girls aged 10 to 14. The consultant will also uncover key insights and opportunities to enhance the camps for greater future impact. The ideal candidate will have expertise in monitoring and evaluation, research and data analysis, and strategic planning.
Conetext and Objectives:
Between April and December 2024, Tiko partnered with nine community-based organizations (CBOs) across Kenya to deliver impactful life skills camps for adolescent girls aged 10 to 14. Each CBO hosted five two-day camps, reaching a total of 25 new girls per camp. These camps, built on Zana Africa’s proven curriculum, equipped participants with essential knowledge through four key modules:
- Adolescence and Puberty
- Introduction to Menstruation
- Menstrual Health Management
- Setting Goals- I can achieve my dreams
The objectives of the camps:
- Provide accurate, age-appropriate health information:
Equip our target group with age-appropriate and applicable health information that will lead them to make healthy life decisions both in the present and future. (Covering topics such as menstrual health management and puberty)
- Boost their self-confidence and help them set goals:
Provide the information, tools, support, and activities that will boost their self-confidence and give them the courage and ability to take control of their futures and what they want to achieve. (Setting goals for themselves)
- Create a strong support network:
Establish a strong support network among the girls where they can continue to support each other as they grow up.
Secondary objective: Create awareness, trust, and brand affinity with Tiko where they will be more likely to seek support, membership, and health services in future.
Implementation Overview:
CBO Partners: 9 CBOs across 8 counties partnered with Tiko to implement Life Skills Camps (Counties: Kisii, Nakuru, Nairobi, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Nyamira County, Machakos, Mombasa)
Total Camps: 45 Zana Africa x Tiko Life Skills Camps implemented between April and December 2025 (5 Camps per CBO)

Scope of Work:
The research candidate or agency will cover the following areas which aim to:
- Assessing Impact
Evaluating how the camps influenced attendees’ lives over the past 6-12 months, including their experiences through puberty, school attendance, goal progression, communication with parents on sensitive topics such as puberty or SRH, awareness and brand affinity with Tiko and the support networks they established within the camps.
Assess impact on adjacent health indicators like teen pregnancies and delayed sexual debut through review of KHIS and sample facility data in the ecosystems where the camps took place.
- Enhancing Outcomes
Gathering insights on successes and areas for improvement to strengthen support for 10-14-year-old girls, ensuring a positive trajectory for their health and education.
Deliverables
Methodology Development
Review consolidated reports and facilitate Tiko team discussions to shape a robust research methodology.
Develop field workplan
Draft a detailed work plan outlining implementation timelines, participating CBOs, and attendee demographics.
Scripting
Develop a structured questionnaire or research tool to gather insights from attendees, parents, and CBOs.
Field Work
Conduct on-the-ground research with key stakeholders to capture real-life experiences and impact.
Report development and presentation
Synthesize findings into a comprehensive report, assessing long-term impact and recommending improvements for scale.

How to apply
Firms and individuals are invited to submit proposals for this engagement. Proposals should include the contents below and not exceed a maximum length of 10 pages, excluding annexures (budget and summary profiles of proposed personnel).
- Cover Page: Summary with basic information such as names, addresses, contact information, proposed budget, etc.
- Capacity Statement: A brief capacity statement as to why your firm and the team you are proposing is well positioned to undertake the engagement
- Qualification to the Scope of Work: Any qualifications that you may have regarding the scope of work
- Proposed Approach: Your proposed approach to delivering on the scope of work requirements
- Work Plan: proposed work plan with tasks, responsible person/s and timeline
- Budget: Total budget envelope required to deliver the work (In KSH), and line-item breakdown of direct costs and overheads
- References of similar engagements undertaken by the firm or individual in the last 5 years
