Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for delivering a structured training program covering the following areas:

Introduction to Organic Farming:

  • Overview: Educate farmers on organic agriculture principles.
  • Benefits: Discuss environmental, health, and economic benefits of organic farming.

Organic Pesticide Basics:

  • Types and Characteristics: Explain various organic pesticides, their types, and their characteristics.
  • Comparison: Highlight differences between organic and chemical pesticides, focusing on environmental impacts and application techniques.

Preparation of Organic Pesticides:

  • Hands-On Training: Conduct practical sessions for preparing organic pesticides using locally available materials.
  • Demonstrations: Guide farmers through each step of creating effective organic pesticide solutions.

Application Techniques:

  • Best Practices: Teach safe and effective pesticide application methods.
  • Safety Measures: Cover the required safety equipment and precautions for pesticide application.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM):

  • IPM Introduction: Outline the importance of IPM for sustainable agriculture.
  • Integration: Guide farmers on incorporating organic pesticides into a comprehensive IPM strategy.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Effectiveness Assessment: Provide methods for assessing the impact of organic pesticides.
  • Adjustments: Train farmers to adjust pest management strategies based on monitoring outcomes.

Deliverables:

The consultant will provide:

  • A detailed training plan and schedule.
  • Training materials, including presentations, handouts, and practical demonstration guides.
  • Pre- and post-training assessments to gauge knowledge gained.
  • A report summarizing the training outcomes, participant feedback, and recommendations for future sessions.

Duration:

The training is scheduled over an eight-day period, with sessions arranged to suit farmers’ availability.
