Our client, a leader in the marine industry, is seeking a Tug Deckhand to join their team. As a Tug Deckhand, you will be part of the operations supporting the safe and efficient movement of vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive approach to safety, which will align successfully with the organization’s values.Job Title: Tug DeckhandLocation: Point Tupper, NSPay Range: Based on Experience and QualificationsWhat’s the Job?
- Perform all functions safely while complying with applicable rules, procedures, and policies.
- Handle deck lines, wires, and towing tackle for both the tug and vessel.
- Ensure the berthing of tugs and vessels using lines.
- Maintain cleanliness of the deck and perform planned maintenance work.
- Identify, assess, and report all risks, hazards, and incidents to the Tug Master.
What’s Needed?
- Education and Certification: Marine Basic First Aid, valid Transport Canada Marine Medical certificate, MED (Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety), Bridgewatch Rating
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of related experience is preferred.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and handle heavy equipment.
- Comprehensive understanding of emergency equipment and duties on board.
