Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., is the nation’s leading manufacturer of Ductile Iron Waterworks Fittings and Appurtenances has an immediate opening for aFoundry Production Supervisor for its Large Diameter Foundry at Anniston facility.TylerUnion’s main manufacturing facility is located in Anniston, AL.

Production Supervisor will directly supervise, coordinate, and plan production for operations at molding lines, core machines, finishing operations, or melt operations in a ductile iron foundry producing pipe fittings for the waterworks industry. Integrate safety, environmental, quality, and human resources support into all production operations. Proactively promotes The McWane Way principals, values, and behaviors and lives the Compass Culture.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following:

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Always adhere to Company safety rules and regulations and work safely.
  • Proactively promotesThe McWane Wayprinciples, values, and behaviors and lives theCompass Culture.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions supporting the operation and direct the activities of team members engaged in the production area.
  • Facilitate daily startup meetings with the team while promoting safety and unity.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Ensure quality processes are in place and effective.
  • Confer and collaborate with other supervisors and manage to ensure seamless communication and effective transition of products and activities. Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Conduct team member training in equipment operations and work and safety procedures.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
  • Confer with management or human resources to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate team members and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency.
  • Monitor electronic time and attendance schedules for assigned team members and their clocking in and out.
  • Observe team member behavior, research actions, document and recommend discipline for actions inconsistent with General Company Rules and standard business practices.
  • Issue disciplines within established time periods.
  • Required to work in shifts as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

education and/or experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university preferred.
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Listen to team members’ professional needs while coaching and empowering staff to optimize and elevate their competencies.
  • Proactively address potential issues and work to quickly resolve any complaints or concerns.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate the team to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain and approve team member time records (schedule, vacation, and attendance, etc.).
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety, rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Use basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.

    Must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment varies from a typical office setting to a plant environment that may be hot, cold, dusty, and noisy. It is a requirement to be in and out of the plant on a regular basis. As necessary, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
